Default Just Got Playbook Today, Lines On Screen?

    Hi all,

Just got my Playbook today and love it. Only one possible problem: I have noticed that there are faint vertical rainbowish lines on the screen. I had Best Buy install a Zagg screen protector right after I bought it so I cannot tell if it is the protector or the screen. I suppose in the next couple days I will take the screen protector off and back to Best Buy.

But before then, does anyone have any experience with this issue? With or without a screen protector?

Thanks! Love the Playbook more than my iPad 1, even though I am a diehard Mac guy. Looking forward to this device.

This is normal and is on all PlayBooks. They're actually both vertically and horizontally and usually only visible when the screen is off.

I suppose I should have clarified- I mean these are visible when the screen is on, as though they are on the surface. There are a few on the rightish side and one or two up near center top. All look nearly perfectly vertical. Most visible against white bg.

I literally opened the box at Best Buy (bought at Office Depot with Staples coupon) because I wanted to protect the screen right away. But I didn't notice anything wrong with the screen when I first peeled back the factory film.

So that's why I was wondering if this is a screen protector thing that may go away or may not, or (worse) if maybe Best Buy scratched the screen in installation.

Or maybe there were faint scratches out of the box that I did not notice, but it WAS a truly sealed box.

    Thanks

Thanks for the testimony and the conversion - this WILL be used against all iPad fans who dare venture in here...*rubs hands together*..but only if they dare disrespect the mighty PlayBook

I don't know that it's normal - I see no such thing..screen on or screen off - sounds like two here with the same problem.

I'm not too worried; it is probably the screen protector. If somehow the device is scratched, well, thank goodness I got it at a retail store where I can easily exchange it! Actually that's one of the main reasons I bought retail as opposed to eBay.

Then, once I have the device all nice and set up, I am getting a SquareTrade warranty for a hundred bucks. That way, I will never have to deal with RIM tech support if something disastrous happens, AND I will get all inclusive accidental damage protection.

Again, I am a Mac guy. I originally got a 9700 because I was attracted to the email and functionality, as well as the keyboard. Now I have a 9780 with the frustrating double type problem, but oh well. It isn't that terrible to deal with and the 9900 will be a great upgrade soon enough!

Due to the liquid spray used to apply the invisible shield you might see rainbow lines for 24-48 hours. Once it dries you should not see these lines.

This is probably the most technical answer u could rely on!
Wait for a couple more days and bring it back if it's still there.

i noticed a few lines on mine the first 2 - 3 days, with no screen protector, but they disappeared by themselves
could be the screen has them when its dormant for a long period and they go away when you use it alot?
