Has anyone on here able to use Verizone's mobile hot spot on the iphone 4 only and was able to connect to there playbook and not using a jailbroken iphone ?

I called blackberry and they say it does not support the iphone for now, WTF ?
If I can not use my hotspot this thing is going back anyways HELP, thanks...

It should work fine with the iphone hotspot feature.... just a standard wifi connection. You can also use Bluetooth for tethering with the iphone if you have that package.

iphone does not support dun profile for bluetooth tethering.
and playbook does not connect with iphone hotspot, all other devices connect fine.

Wow. Seems to work with Android mobile hotspots. Guess nobody at RIM tested with that device.

Works with on my iPhone 4 Personal Hotspot via WiFi for me. Haven't tried BT. Here's what worked for me:

Before you begin, make a password in your iPhone personal Hotspot menu.

Then,

1) know your iPhone 4 device name (this is your wifi SSID)
2) on your playbook go to wifi settings
3) if it doesn't show up on the wifi list, click "other network"
4) type in your SSID which is your iPhone 4 name
5) type in your hotspot password created on the iPhone
6) choose WPA personal for security
7) try and connect

I am also having trouble tethering internet from my iphone to my playbook. Sometimes the iphone shows up on the pb's wi-fi setting, other times it doesn't. WTF??? I checked my iphone and it connects to my computer fine.

ok im in the wifi i see my home router its green and it says WPA Personal no prob below I see my iPhone and the signal is black looking and it says WPA2 Personal.
My hotspot is up and running so from here do now tap Connect Manually ? Sorry bare with me here I have never had so much trouble with something before.

My iphone is also showing up as wep2 and not wpa. Is itonly possible to change the encryption to wpa if it is jail broken?

i had this problem, u know what apple uses your iphone's name as ssid or the same wifi name in my case my iphone's name was "dad's iphone" and playbook did not recognize it i connected my iphone to itunes and changed the name to one simpke word and restarted the wifi hotspot in the phone and the first try was connected. i hope it helps, by the way blue tooth tethering does not work yet

OK i think i figured it out! so my hotspot was named after my iPhone and it contained an apostrophe, so on my iphone it looked like "MyName's iPhone 4" but on the PlayBook it showed up as "MyName___s iPhone 4".

i renamed my iPhone to just "iP4" in iTunes, restarted the PlayBook, and was able to connect to the hotspot on the first attempt!

looks like there is an issue with weird characters being passed i guess.. i was also getting the authentification timed out message..

How did you get it to work? I have MiWi on my jailbroken iphone and playbook doesn't even recognize it. It doesn't show in available networks and when I add it manually it just times out every time. Help!

My PB finds my phone just like any other network!
