They set the $20 price when they initially submitted the application back in MAY.
Times have changed since May and they decided to lower the price after RIM took half a year to approve the app.
They changed the price down to $10, checked on all the sites to see the price had propogated and then opened it to purchasing, it is NOT their fault that RIM's backend servers don't bill people the amount that is listed on their own App World systems.
Please read their response before jumping in to defend RIM, it gets a bit boring otherwise. - 10-31-2011, 01:40 PM #28
Not sure how you can defend RIM on this. The App is listed at 9.99 and then charges you 19.99. Not sure how that is anyone's fault except the company that is running the store - RIM. Their damn system doesn't charge the price that is displayed in the system. Doesn't matter when he price was changed. If the two don't match there is a problem.

New around these parts, ain't ya?
Doesnt matter how they do it or why. Its almost a waste of time arguing with them; their first and only motive is to defend rim, period. No matter what. Evidence isnt important and stick those facts where the sun doesnt shine.... defend rim defend rim. Almost like sheep.
Look at one's defence and then another's... they often contradict one another.
RIM runs appworld and if there is something posted there it's their responsibility or domain.

If you want to debate a point or discuss it then I'm all for it. That being said the name calling and hyperbole is getting old. Labeling everyone who disagrees with any particular stance you have as an apologist or sheep is really not constructive and doesn't further the discussions. That is of course just my opinion.

Why are you guys defending RIM on this?? I just don't get it. I don't care who set what price at what time. If the damn thing says 9.99 and then it charges you 19.99 then that is a problem with Appworld. If it takes a day to update, then the stupid price should show 19.99. There should NEVER be a difference between the advertised price and the price it charges.
I am not saying that Shape did not mess up their pricing. They most likely did. Apparently the current version of the app sucks too, surprise, surprise. But when a price shows as one amount and then charges another, that is Appworld's issue.
One other thing - RIM needs to assure that each application is being sold at the price that is showing up to the consumer. They should have safeguards in place to prevent this error from happenning.Last edited by chi-town311; 10-31-2011 at 03:46 PM.

Lol
Lol You lamo's are trying to find some one to blame but your selves...reasons being that you went on app world and see IM+ for 9.99!you press purchase, then you sign into you account, then you see purchase price 17.38, tax price 2.61, total 19.99. But you still press buy now! why? Don't you check the price for things before you buy
Blame your selves, not rim,not the developers. Look into the mirror and say this with me.its my fault its my fault, not rim, that's it........you see..... that wasn't hard was it
Lol

It's so funny I'm almost crying. I wish every potential RIM customer could read threads like this and the app in question reviews.

RIM needs to update how the appworld works and Shape needs to actually develop a real app. Did I miss anything?

bud
hey guys.... i've downloaded flash files games, apps e.c.t, thats about 7mb or more! have you seen the IM+for blackberry playbook! it's only 1mb in size. The web base version is better than this app, wouldn't even call it an app for 1 mb in size for 9.99 or 19.99 like some of you found out!
. it needs to at lease 8 to 9mb to be a propper app with every thing built in side of it.was this the look on your faces
whan they charge you 19.99 and not 9.99

Who are you calling a lamo? I did notice it. And I didn't buy it. But it still pisses me off. I really don't get how you can think this isn't RIM's fault. They have an error in their system that allows a price to show in one spot and then it charges you a different price.
How is this not their fault?
Seriously, you are pretty pathetic if you can't find the problem here. They have an inconsistency in their store. This can easily be fixed on their end. MATCH THE TWO PRICES!! It isn't that hard. - 11-01-2011, 12:39 PM #44

Hey, remember when everyone was all pumped up and ready to kill RIM for having not yet released IM+ for the PlayBook? .... Yeah, good times.
Excuse me, I'm making perfect sense. You're just not keeping up.

Remember when everyone was dying for a 3rd party email client? Then demanded a sideload version so that they could use it? Deja vu...

I have a suggestion. Seems most of the arguments are a result of the fact that it took this long for an IM client to come to the PB. Have you guys considered selling your PBs for an iPad or Galaxy Tab? Not only are all the IM apps free, you also get full Skype.
Trust me, Im not trolling. Its an actual suggestion.

If The Cap Fits! Wear It!
If you see inconsistency in their store, why complain....Just dont buy the APP until it's fixed
remember this is rim we're talking about, these things happen. but you cant blame rim if people dont check before they buy
the problem is people like you always complaining about everything. why rim didn't do this, why rim didn't do that. Seriously who is pretty pathetic now!!you didn't buy the app so why complain.

There web app even does video chat, I think. Although I know that probably doesn't help communicate with other Mobile platforms. I don't think too many other allow the mic and camera through the browser like the Playbook, but I could be wrong. Haven't had a need to try a voice only chat, so I can't help there. I just know the IMO.im web App works well in the PB browser. Enough that I would never consider paying for IM Apps.
