i tried over and over ,did all that i could i cant tether my pb with my bold 9700 on at&t says fail to locate or what ever. i did pair my phone with the pb but internet is very slow. this why i got the pb to be able to take advantage of this , if i cant i dont need it really .is the speeds the same even if your tethering or in bridge? has anyone run into this problem or what im i doing wrong help please.

You need to call AT&T and add a tethering plan. I doubt you were ever actually on tether without calling them first.
