Have acquired a second Playbook as my first one is starting to fade in its battery life. Figure at some point this # 2 will become the replacement # 1. What is the best way to keep the future substitute's battery fresh and longer lasting until those times when I actually begin to use it regularly. I would like to avoid needing to keep it out on the bureau being charged...both because one less thing I have to plug in and also to lessen the stress on its battery as well. Can I let it sit idle and wind down...and then when needed down the road, pull it out and do a PB OEM Quick Charger on it? Suggestions for me in practicalities and long term getting the best from it?

charge to full, drain to between 40 and 75%, turn it off and put it away.
Basically, don't store it with the battery full or dead

Occasionally (recommended every 6 months) turn it on and if the battery is low, repeat the above steps. If not, just turn it off and put it away.

We had a spare at work that was inactive for about 11 months until we started using it a few weeks ago. We kept the battery level between 30% and 60%, checking it about once a month. It's doing fine and BatteryGuru shows a battery health of 92%.

I have 3 playbooks. My somewhat dormant one I treated very similar to the above reply's. I probably charged them highter than suggested but I checked them once a month. I do similar with an old Ipod classic U2 edition I have and seems to work for me. They are all still hangin in quite well. Getting the back up was a good idea.
