So when someone asks to see what's so great about a PB, do you have a couple of go-to apps that you bring up? Does what you bring up change, depending on who you're showing?

I got a couple of ifanboys at work to admit that my pb is a lot better than they expected, just by showing them the bridge stuff. It was a success in my book!

I just open Dead Space, Modern Combat 2, Asphalt 6, Spider-Man, Cut the rope and angry birds at the same time. Them I switch through them with 0 lag. Then I proceed to loading miniclip just to show them how awesome it works with flash. Then I just lol in their face. /win

To show people why I purchased a PlayBook, I use a HD Rip of Sucker Punch, Dead Space, BB Bridge with my 9930 (YouTube HD videos), and High-Quality audio files. That, in-and-of itself isn't super impressive, but when I have them all running simultaneously and can swipe between them it never fails to impress. Even my parents, who aren't tech savvy people have been asking for a PlayBook.

I sometimes just swipe like a ****** just to show them that the frame is also touch-sensitive. Looks leet to me.

Hey just a question. I have modern combat 2 and starfront and various games. Even though in showcase mode, These types of games pause in the background. Any way to change this? Games like air hockey on the other hand do not pause while in showcase

Whenever friends ask to check out my Playbook, here are the things I proudly show them:

Native Apps:
"Pictures" app/viewer, then I focus on hd pics and just flip through them very quickly.
"Videos" app/viewer, then I show them an HD movie I have, or the PB HD Demo clip. I also make sure the sound is switched on high, so they realize its Stereo (and not mono like the ...)
"Bridge" apps, particularly Contacts, Messages. I then make sure to show them how easy it is to switch between email accounts/inboxes, as well as when composing mail. Then I tell them that everything is actually on my phone and not on the PB, yet it still responds quickly.
"Browser" app. I use it to show them how quick and easy it is to use. Then I intentionally would open different websites including a good website that uses flash well. They usually see that I don't have limitations as to what site I wish to view.

Third Party Apps:
"Documents to Go" app. I particularly open a saved slideshow and flip through it quickly. They usually say that its one of the things they wish they had. Sometimes I also open a presentation that's on my phone but viewed on my PB.
Gameloft Games I purchased. I let them try playing a game or two to experience how great it is.
"Files & Folders". I use it to show them how easy it is to manage/manipulate all my files locally (PB and Phone) and on cloud storage.

Oh, and I also would open apps simultaneously and show off how easy it is to switch between apps with just a swipe (i.e. no "poor hardworking button" to press).

Hope these help you demonstrate what your Playbook and BB Phone are capable of doing.

I like to show folks what porn looks like in HD! They really enjoy the crisp clear picture... the PB is awesome!

I carry mine in the cargo trouser side pocket. That in itself turns a curious eye, and then when I pull it out.... man does it not get the looks. Offcourse people aren't sure what I am using (as obviously its not the gynromous iPad
And if someone is interested further, I just demonstrate the magnificent UI on the PB..... that is just golden, specially the look on some faces.... priceless

This is one of my tricks:

I start a high rez video on yourtube from my bookmarks and then as am talking I will start another couple apps - usually a game with no audio like pixelated and then bring up my corporate email or something. Then I will ask the person if they have noticed the video is still playing in the background? Then swipe the youtube full screen video back onto the screen... and then go "that, my friend, is true multi-tasking!" ..... it always work!

That happens with gameloft , ea and those pro games only. It's a good thing imo;P

Here's a fun thing I like to do. Open NFS and once it loads up, get a quick game ready. Show them the bezel swipes and open the camera. Switch to video/front view to show them how nice video chat looks. This is where you have to be a little sly - hit the Record button on the video and then switch back to NFS and start the game for them to play. Once they finish the game, swipe back to the camera and let them see that it was recording them while they played. Not only a good way to show multi-tasking, but it makes for a funny video.

Unfortunately, the last time I tried this I forgot to switch to the forward cam, so I got a really shaky video of my mom talking to my sis-in-law while my brother played the game...

When showing my PB off to people who have 3g tablets, the first thing I do is express my sympathy for all the $$$ they're waisting on the data plan. Then, I show off the bridge. Then I fire up a HD video. While the vid is playing I fire up Blackbird and do a little tweeting, then swipe back to the vid which is still playing. While all that is going on, I fire up a game. Usually Dead Space or NFS. This is normally where ipad owners tell me that they are no longer as impressed with their ipad as they used to be. Somewhere along the line they also tell me that they kind of like the smaller size of the PB. Almost all of them say they had no idea the PB is as good as it is. That's when I tell them that I'm not even running the 2.0 beta. I have yet to have anyone continue to tell me that I made a mistake buying the PB.

My experience in convincing others has been rather hit and miss..! I finished a shift at work once and it just happened to "coincidentally" slip it out of my pocket. Everyone asked the obvious question "Oh is that an iPad?"

Showed them the UI, the camera, some games and now my manager wants to buy one for his girlfriend! What a man ey!



Also when I was applying for universities a few weeks ago, my teacher confirmed to me that my application was perfect and told me when I get home to sign onto the website and forward him my application so he can process it straight away...

I sat there for 60 seconds.. "Oh sir it should pop up on your screen now"

"Woah, how'd you do that?"

"This beautiful device Sir!"

My pessimistic friends however didn't see the advantages of Bridge, one friend merely said, "But what's the point of that if you've got to carry your Blackberry?". Another said an iPad was better, I asked why? He said "appzz" then he went to tell me of all the apps he has which just replace his poor browser and that he has.. TWO WEATHER APPS!!!!! AHHHHHHHHH

Showed off the true multitasking.. Throwing an Angry Bird at bricks while 1080p recording and browsing.. Ahh :O WINNING!

Oh, also just online checking in my Aunt's flight home from the Caribbean while walking home..

then wait for them to play music and say do you hear that small bird tweeting somewhere? then say oh what? you paid how much? lol

If you're using it in comparison to an iPad, just have them open the camera. Front or back, the difference is amazing

simple. i just bring out my playbook and play the stock sample video with the cute turtle in it and everyone just goes wow!!!!
