One you're connected to your PlayBook through Bluetooth and both PlayBook and Phone are on the same Wifi network.
Bluetooth is needed to create a secure connection between phone and PlayBook. All data will be transferred via Wifi

correct, using subnet in WiFi OS validates both devices attached to same WiFi and then uses the subnet to transfer using the WiFi connection not the Bluetotth connection, there is a Forum thread already on this subject.....
