CrackBerry Nation, I need your help.

After never receiving shipping confirmation or order cancellation from shopblackberry I decided to look elsewhere for another PlayBook. All the usual websites were sold out and I didn't want to risk another inventory nightmare so I took a look on CraigsList. There is a local seller who is selling two 64GB models for $325 each. He will hold one for me and he told me he bought them from BestBuy.com.

I want to know how to tell if they are refurbished. The price he has them listed for sounds too good to be true so there must be some kind of catch...

If anyone bought a refurbished one from BestBuy does it come in a different box, or does the packaging slip, or receipt label it refurbished?? Please let me know I would like to finally pick up a PlayBook after chasing it since April.

Just a heads up for you. If he bought the 64GB from BestBuy.com, then more than likely he got them for $229.99 each the weekend before Thanksgiving. And most likely, they will be new and sealed like mine. The refurbished PlayBooks on BB.com were always listed as "sold out."


This seller probably could not trade them into Amazon (trade-in value was $401.50 for a like-new 64GB) because BB.com shipped all of the $229.99 64GB PlayBooks so late as UPS was closed for Thanksgiving. This delay in shipping made a lot of people miss their Amazon trade-in deadlines so now they're saturating the eBay market and Craig's List.


Do a Google search for "slickdeals 64GB playbook bestbuy.com" or similar and you will see the gigantic thread talking about it.


The seller probably won't have a true store receipt as it was purchased from BB.com. What he will have is the order confirmation sent via e-mail (showing the actual purchase price) and the packing slip (which does not state the actual purchase price; it just lists the SKU and description). If he bought them for $229.99, then I doubt he will show you the e-mailed order confirmation - he will probably say he "lost" the receipt, but can show you the packing slip to prove they're from BB.com.

Have you checked the thread on the cancelled ShopBlackberry orders? The CIO posted on it that all orders will be honored. Some people have received their PlayBooks already.

Check the browser history - I got one that had (obviously) been returned to the store and the history had porn and bikini sites that had been visited so I kept it to save me the research ...j/k

While I actually did find that- (as well as pics of the previous owner and his email addresses), it looked like a good unit with no defects so what's the difference...it appeared bricked so I think that's why it was returned, but I knew how to revive it from Crackberry.

.the seal had been broken on the box so it was very obvious.
