Help - my PB will not charge
I just finished a full-day fight with my PB. It would not charge no matter what I did. It finally got down to 0% and shut off.
Through a long series of stack charges, I finally got it to start up again. Somewhere along the way I tried the debrick process, so when it started I lost everything and had to set it all back up. Sigh.
Here's the big problem. It's up and running right now. It has 49% charge...but while it is on the same outlet and charger that managed to charge it to 50% while off, it does not appear to be charging anymore. The battery icon does not have a lightning bolt, even if you click it to bring up the larger icon.
I am worried that eventually it will just drop back to 0% again and I'll be back to fighting. Any ideas??? - 05-09-2012, 10:32 AM #2

I've tried multiple chargers. The one I have right now charges other BBs just fine. I just switched to another charger and it's working, but with the PB OFF.
My issue appears to be that it won't charge while on...not that the charger is causing trouble. - 05-09-2012, 06:44 PM #5
I have seen same with RIM cradle style upright charger. Once a reboot solved my problem. Typically a gentle giggle gets a good contact back. Charger (unplugged) must be clean. Similarly for the PB, it's contacts must be free of oil, etc. If you are going to try cleaning your PB contacts with alcohol or another contact cleaner (Radio Shack), power it down first. Charging occurs at low voltages and are notoriously sensitive to oil and grime. Doc Neutron

You have multiple chargers? All pb chargers?

I've got three of the regular pb chargers and two non-dock rapid chargers. The second of each was gratis from rim due to errors along the way.
That's kind of why I'm reluctant to part with either pb - it would probably have to be accompanied by at least one of those chargers! Well, I guess I really don't need 3 regular pb chargers, do I? Hmmmm, do I? - 05-10-2012, 05:19 AM

Okay, clarifying again...
My charger WORKS.
When the playbook is turned off, it charges just fine.
When the playbook is ON, that same charger connected, nothing happens.
Even Battery Guru doesn't recognize a charger.
