does your file follow any of these codec parameters? Note: there's a nice pdf file in the post 11 that is an official Blackberry Doc, might make more sense.

No you cannot download windows media player on a playbook.
Check the following link to see what formats are supported:

Once you find what video is supported you can find a converter to use on your computer and then play on your playbook.

I use a program from SlySoft to convert videos to mobile versions.

    It's called CloneDVD mobile

I use the iPad choice and select the highest resolution. The converted mobile video is over 1GB but the quality is great.

i like this one for step by step directions. you can download for free and convert the whole movie first to see if it works. it will have their logo in the middle of the screen for the entire movie. if you like it you can buy the software and remove the logo

BlackBerry PlayBook Video Converter - Convert TiVo/MKV/MTS/VOB for BB PlayBook

they slso have a trial dvd converter

keep in mind they recommend the highest quality for resolution and bitrate options. I usually reduce both those options so I can reduce both the size of the file and the time it takes to convert it.

you can also try this one which is the only one i have found that converts several formats including microsoft recorded tv from a pc tv tuner (dvr-ms format)

    www.avs4you.com

they don't stick the logo in the middle on the trial version but they only convert 10 minutes of the video.

i could never get any of the free options posted on crackberry to work for me but maybe you can.
