Default HDMI and wired network ...

In a previous thread, I posted this :
"[HDMI] 1.4 version gots an HDMI Ethernet Channel (HEC), which allows for a 100 Mbit/s Ethernet connection between two HDMI connected devices."

Is someone tech-advanced enough to state whether this can actually allow a dock to provide a wired network connexion ? We're talking "absolute" here, I mean I'm aware of the need of some extra software ("drivers"), but on the technical point ... would it be possible ?

The PlayBook is HDMI 1.3 not 1.4 I believe, and even if it was the ethernet support is an optional extra I'm pretty sure the PB doesn't have.

The upside however is that when we get USB OTG support there's no reason a USB ethernet adaptor couldn't be made. In fact, back before the PB was originally released RIM mentioned its existence briefly in an interview.
