The good and bad of playbook
I see some older threads on this but would like a more current one. I got a playbook abut a week ago and I'm learning. I like the os, it's very easy to add music or movies, the browser seems pretty good, and email is a breeze . Apps are okay for the most part.
Here is what I need help with:
How do you print with this thing? I got a wireless printer that works great with my phone but I'm lost with the playbook.
Also I'm missing my netflix any secrets to get this working?
I'm reading about rooting but my tech level is average and I get lost with all the tech terms, can it even be done with the latest update? If I ever do get some android apps working is it just a few select apps or all of them? I would like to get the song app for my bluray.
This is my first tablet and the only thing I can compare it to is my iphone3. I don't know anything about. The Android. Market - 05-11-2012, 11:23 PM #2
You can't print from the playbook unless you have an eprinter is what I have read.
Netflix! That's another thread for you to search.
Rooting & side loading androids app, there are plenty of threads on that as well. - 05-11-2012, 11:57 PM

There have have been very recent threads on both printing and Netflix, even today. You didn't look very hard. I would read those. In addition, any basic research before your purchase would also have been beneficial.
Printing can also be accomplished through some apps available in AppWorld. I personally use one called Print, which sends the item to your PC for immediate printing. At work we print from the PB through our network printer. There are trolls in BlackBerry clothing among us. Report, ignore and never reply to obvious troll posts, they will die without responses from you. - 05-12-2012, 12:04 AM #5
Typically, you must configure your printer for e-print mode and set-up an account with the manufacturer of the printer. The documentation which came with your e-printer and/or the e-printer configuration options should produce a printed page containing the required information. If you let us know the printer manufacturer and model, we might be able to point you directly to the appropriate website.

My printer is a HP 7510, I was hoping there was a print button on the playbook that I haven't found. Like I said it's my first tablet and I thought a lot of this stuff would just be there. I got it for a great price and figured I would be happy even if it just did full web pages (which it does). I want to get one for my mother, she has an old heavy and hot laptop. I thought if I could figure some of this stuff out it would be great for her. She is gonna want to print pictures from it and does not like to have her laptop on all the time. It needs to be easy for her. She is not going to join a forum to ask questions
. If this is not the tablet for her could you suggest one? I know an ipad would work but that's a lot of scratch!!!

There is NO "print" button. My understanding of the E-printers, is that you SEND an email to the printer's email address and it prints.
Appworld actually contains/sells SOME Android apps but they are not specifically identified. Sideloading them - only some, not all but a number of popular ones are available. Check the Android subforum under the app subforum.
I don't know if anyone has licked the rooting if the device has the most current OS. Use it as it s until you are a bit more comfortable and then investigate.
Enjoy.
