Don't use Playbook's browser to do important work! It's not very reliable
It crashes too often still. I just learned my lesson hard way.
It's ok for casual entertainment web surfing, but if you have important work to do using browser, better find a computer. - 03-04-2012, 06:45 AM #2
I don't have that problem at all.

I honestly have yet to have my browser crash on 2.0. It did a lot on 2.0 beta, but since performing a debrick(had other issues going from beta to official), my browser hasn't crashed once since. I'm not saying it doesn't happen, we all know it does, just odd that some finds it crashes way more then others.

Your point is valid. But in comparison my iPhone browser also crashes on certain websites, especially (it seems) when I've just typed in a huge comment.
The PB 2.0 browser was just released. Assuming it's like every other software in the history of humanity, it'll improve with the 2.x updates.PlayBook 16GB $299 [latest OS]. More PlayBooks as gifts $199, $199...

My browser also works fine, I admit it has crashed twice since 2.0 update. I did a delete and reinstall along with a router reset and haven't had a "crash" since. I suggest deleting all wifi connections (codes & passwords), reset router, and reinstall wifi connections. It worked for me

Just make sure to clear the cache and browser history, cookies etc.
This will prevent undue load on the browser, and yes some websites do make the browser crash, but it's the most stable browser on a tablet out there,I love it even more than my trusted Safari on the Mac.....and the speed of browsing,I will just say this....... Weeeeeeeeee

The web browser on my multiple BlackBerry PlayBooks has not crashed since upgrading to OS 2.0. Truthfully, I only recall one crash of the web browser and that was one of the early upgrades to OS 1.0.

Will everyone please click on the smurfberries link provided above at least once so that we don't have to constantly read about how your PB browser never, ever crashes. And how others should waste their time resetting this or rebooting that...

Those smurberries did crash my browser

I do agree with the opportunity, the browser is less reliable than my 9900. I typically have it crash once or twice a day or it will stall out requiring, etc to close the browser and relaunch it again.
1.0 crashed less but 2.0 loads a bit faster and the pages are a bit smoother over all. - 03-04-2012, 07:21 AM #15
What is this, BS weekend? First, no android apps and now the browser. People must be running out of things to complain about, so they're making things up. Has anyone here ever used an iPad? Talk about browser crashes!!!!

It's not BS and it's not made up.
Agreed it's also not unique to the PB browser. And it shouldn't be a shock for an x.0.0 release to have a few bugs.PlayBook 16GB $299 [latest OS]. More PlayBooks as gifts $199, $199...

oh no, dont ever use the browser cos mine crashed once.
Every piece of tech ive ever used has crashed at some point, usually, via the way of "sods law" it was during something important.
Does this mean we should all abandon technology and go live in the woods?
Yes, the PB does occasionally crash, but it does it a lot less that safari mobile, and when it does it auto shuts down unlike androids which in y experience requires a battery pull to rectify. No system is perfect, but picking on the best of the bunch for suffering the same issue as others but to a much lesser degree is just arguing for the sake of arguing.Thanked by:PatrickMJS (03-05-2012)

The browser does crash. It's a valid point. Wish it didn't. I don't see the fact that other browsers crash too as being terribly helpful. Has anyone identified the source of the problem? What is it about the smurfberries link that shuts us down?

it crashed only once for me a few months back. ever since never had an issue. Just an innocent question: what kind of "important" work would u have to do on your PB browser that u cant recover if the browser crashes??

My disagreement is with those that suggest that it's only a problem with the original poster and they should waste their time trying all sorts of reset procedures. In fact, its a known issue with certain websites that cause the browser to crash.
It's also not a memory problem as it happens far too quickly for that explanation to hold water.
It's just a bug. Nothing more.PlayBook 16GB $299 [latest OS]. More PlayBooks as gifts $199, $199...

My disagreement is rather than pointing out the issue and specifically, pointing out which sites or apps are making the browser crash and asking for bug fixes, the initial poster just suggests to stop using the browser, which btw, crashes a lot less than my work pc browser...

I suspect it has something to do with browsing habits. My browser has only crashed twice since I got my playbook in December, but my daughter says hers crashes at least once daily.
