So, I was toying with the idea of picking up the 16 gb Playbook at a local Best Buy, and they had one returned available for $189. Waiting for permission from my wife, today I see the PB for $499 again. Rats!

guess I asked the search the wrong question... guess a 64 gb PB is in my future! That thread rose to the top after i posted my question.

was that a price error or normal price now for all 64 gb? who would pay 600 regular pricing? such a ripoff!

Actually, had the PB been delivered pretty much with what we should be getting in February, and had there been more app developers on board at the time, I'm of the opinion the 64 GB is worth every bit of its suggested MSRP. Getting one (64 GB) at $299.00 is a steal, and I am toying with the idea of getting my 5th PB for myself as a backup.

I just checked Best Buy and all of their prices are back up to $499 (16GB), $599 (32) and $699 (64)! With all the press from the Best Buy reps about it being discontinued, that's a pretty high price for something that is just going away

I'm glad I picked mine up at a reduced price.

The prices are back up because of a date pre-programmed into their system to convert the price back to normal. If you notice, they still have they listed as unavailable for shipping and their price is not the same as the prices on R.I.M's own site.
