    Welcome to the club.....

    Start here

BlackBerry PlayBook User Manual and Guide.

Give us some idea as to what you want to do with your playbook and if you like to play games and what type of games. You can go to APP WORLD and check out all the free games and apps.

Jetpack joyride would be a good free game to start with.

I may not have followed your last message - two many cookies and Prosecco!

Is the PB actually working? You now have the Homescreen and its Icons?

Is it fully charged? Press the Battery Icon and it gives %

RIM recommended video format for local playback
    Video
    H.264 mp4 using a High Profile @ 720P (1280x720).
    Audio
    LC-AAC Stereo or 5.1.
FYI- Playbook screen resolution is 1024x600.
(But RIM said I could play full 1080p!?!?!?

Sheesh, someone always posts the manual link in their signature but I can't locate it!

The free air browser allows you to look around the files and folders.

Kindle needs to be sideloaded - you might wait.

    OKAY, UPDATE/REMINDER:
    4. What about e-books and audio books?
    5. Link to the best 'apps', page?
    Gday Kris,
For ebooks, I recommend adding Calibre to your desktop/laptop in case you get files not supported in PB (eg I dloaded some .lit files which I converted to epub using Calibre) There is a reader called Book Reader for Epub which is on the Apps page and is quite good. I have seen the author replying to queries in here. There are other options out there, just try and see what appeals.
Crackberry.com often provides reviews of new games for the PB - keep an eye out.
Hope you are enjoying your PB experience

I have the manual bookmarked, will try to print it soon, or maybe just put it on my PB. Also, my screen is pretty good, very light scratches you can't see unless from a different angle.

Thanks for the link and tips
I will def. check out the App World tomorrow, though I do not play many games at all, I was just playing one PC game with my out-of-state dad but we quit recently. I would love to be able to easily add movies/videos, music, and some ebooks.

F2, it is charged to 100%. I did hear about the PB playing 1080p but it is very laggy and skips. I am not too picky about the resolution, just as long as I can get the videos on the PB so they play correctly. Also, I use Calibre for my ebooks and have used it for years, and I have a rather huge library on my PC.

Roodog46, thanks much! Yes, I am liking it, though it would be nice to one day have enough time to just sit and play with it a bit.
Actually, I have been using Calibre for a long time. I assume I just plug in my PB to my PC and it will show up in Calibre. I always use .epub whenever possible. Thanks again and happy holiday!

Two apps I really like are Files and Folders and KalemSoft Player.
Both app developers spend a lot of time on this site answering questions.
