    I have installed Blackberry Device Manager for my new playbook; on my Toshiba laptop I see the icon on my start menu and in the shortcuts, and under properties it recognizes the playbook when plugged in. However, the device manager will not open. Clicking on the icon does nothing. Rebooting has been ineffective. Can anyone offer a suggestion to fix?

    Have you tried reinstalling the DM?

    Some advice I got earlier was to have Desktop Manager open and the PlayBook powered off when connecting.

    Are you running Blackberry device manager or Blackberry Desktop Software. They're not exactly the same thing.

    Paco is right. Go to blackberry.com download and re-install the software.
