Hi people, I have recently bought a playbook and still learning how to use it. I noticed that it came with only 2 views for apps (in my phone I have favourites, media, all, etc.). Does anybody knows how to create/add more views for applications? I am using OS 2.1.

By the way, have anybody noticed that if you tap and hold on some blank area of the screen, the touch becomes erraticaly responsive? It occurs to me, needing to do a soft reset to back to normal...

Thanks a lot for any help. I have been reading this forum for quite few days and it is amazing how you can learn .

    Regards
    Martin

Hi and welcome. I'm not sure about what you mean about the views but if my assumption is correct you want to have several sections you can swipe between, each having similar applications. To move application icons around hold down on one and all start to pulse and some have a garbage icon on it for quick removal. If you drag and drop an icon over another it allows you to create a folder containing those two app icons. if you drag an icon to either side of the screen, it will allow you to move it to the next page. Usually a new page. I don't believe there is a way to name these pages but I just remember which one is which. My first page of apps are all news and social media, each seperated into individual folders. My second page is games. The folders would be casino games, driving games, etc. I have a last page, eventually that I threw all the system files, help files and stores (music, video, accessories, etc.) Hope it helps.

edit: you know what, I think that's exactly what you mean.

Tapping and holding a blank area on the screen puts the Playbook in edit mode. This is the mode where you can move icons or delete programs. Just tap again to get back to normal.
You may want to read the manual.

    CAUTION!!!

Do NOT move ALL icons out of the top dock - it creates an error that is hard to recover from. You can move items into and out of it - just do NOT empty it as part of your process.

Since I'm not in an experimental mode - anyone know what happens if you try to drag too many or even one too many icons to the dock? Will it just get rejected or will the pb again experience projectile vomiting or play blackhole with that icon?

Good question but I'm not going to find out unless I'm ready to wipe anyway.

On a side note........why would anyone do that anyway

it'll just reject it - the dock only holds 6...but you can make folders in the dock.... also, if you try to delete a whole folder (using the garbage can) it won't actually delete the apps, it'll just get rid of the folder and put all the apps in that folder on the actual page (but you can't do this in the dock...you used to be able to get more than 6 in the dock, but RIM changed that during one of the os updates.) Enjoy your pb!!!!

LOL too true. That was for F2 as RIM made that comment to him or someone else.

Ask Rim, I'm sure that they know.

I also just recalled another potential (past????) flaw

Oh, just remembered. I think booting problems occur if you try only Folders in the dock????? Is that still the case?

I don't recall if rim fixed the NO/Slow Boot/restart if you had ALL FOLDERS in the dock?

Something like that, yes. I'm surprised you don't have a doc on that.

I have five folders in the dock. When I want to move an app to a folder I move it up to the sixth position in the dock for convenience in lining up to the folder or page I want to place it in. Don't know whether I could get six folders on the dock.

Sheesh, I did not remember that the Dock holds SIX (6) icons. I've had five (5) there forever. I won't even try putting a sixth plan icon up there. The only "Folder" I have there is BRIDGE.
