as the title says, i charged my playbook all night and saw it was at 97% rather than 100%. anyone know why this is?

Because as charging, most devices will charge to 100%, drain to 95 then charge back to 100%

It is good for the battery in the long run.

Did you update your OS? The release OS had the bug you describe, but it seems to be gone with .1710

No this is software. Last os mine only went to 94% and now it only does 96 or 97%. It is a bug and should be fixed soon. I also see weird battery drains so i think this battery module in the os isn't done.

It is a property of lithium polymer batteries..

A fully charged battery will have a long term life of about a year.
    thats crap.
they make it go to 100 then drop back to 95 then charge back. Or most companies do this.

Mine had been going to 100% for the 5 or 6 times I charged it over the last week. Then last night, it was drained down to about 10% and for the first time, it only charged to 98% after 8 hours charging.

I had the same problem - wouldn't charge past 94%. I plugged it into DM to do a backup tonight and afterwards plugged it into the wall for a few hours. Now it shows 100%.
