    Hello folks,

having a bit of trouble after downloading the update for the PB. MY PB doesn't recognize my home wifi signal - after choosing the language option, and even after manually inputting IP, Gateway, DNS info etc. The PB doesn't seem to recognize let alone connect to the WiFi and is on an endless 'connecting' loop. Does anyone have any advice? Many thanks in advance

Same in my case also with new OS update. periodically disconnecting wifi signal (no problem with previous version). browser error " couldn't connect the host name". but the same wifi router is connecting smart phone without any problem.

Yes, there are several other devices in the house which are operating without any problem. Been browsing the forums for some solution, no joy. But in the case of the Playbook can't even establish an initial link; the connecting loop just goes round and round.

Obviously, not an immediate solution but maybe head to an open public wifi (library, cafe) and see if you can finish the process there and then try again.

    Reboot/restart router?

Are you looking at the password? I had trouble until I saw I typed it wrong.

I know I'm like a broken record on this one, have you enabled ipv6 and inter access point handover in settings for the connection?

I've tried to acquire a wifi signal after rebooting the router twice, but no luck. Gone to several public wifi hotspots, but the only options which appear are the "Manually connect to Network" or "Wi-Fi protected Setup." None of the available signals in the vicinity are listed anywhere.

1pv6 is enabled. Enabling the interaccess point handover, is that something I can do in my router settings? Wasn't able to spot it but I will check with my server provider.

    Triple-checked the password at home.

Another thing - once I do enter wifi info and try to connect, the 'connecting wheel' turns indefinitely - pressing Cancel is no use. Have to restart the Playbook to get it to quit.

I really appreciate the replies, folks, this a good community here.

When you're connecting to a new network, you have deleted the one you had?, you don't see this?,
BTW hate the new file attaching method on the pb!

Edit: if you get this screen use "don't use wps"

Enabling ipv6 and inter access point handover are settings on the playbook not the router. You set these for each individual connection.

I have the same issue in the office. Everything works well at home, though.

Even if there is full bar on my pb in the office, there is no data traffic. Or sometimes, I can get nothing but emails.

I've never done that and never have an issue.

More and more networks need these settings, I'm ok at home but at local hospital I was dropping all the time and then i read about this and tested with and without and found it made a difference.

Must be missing something. Never get to the screens posted above. After starting the OS update from my desktop, it tells me to disconnect the playbook and finish the update. It then instructs me to choose the language and then connect to Wifi, where I see a screen:

    Can't connect to Wi-Fi after update-300179.image2.jpg

The difference is no available networks appear on the left hand side; just the options to Manually Connect to Network or Wi-Fi Protected Setup. I've tried to connect manually to the wifi network with the help of the service provider to make sure the settings are correct, but no dice.

I made those changes after i was connected by going to the gear at top right and then wifi, saved networks and edited each in turn to turn on ipv6 and inter access to make them more reliable. Matty-go I see a gear icon at bottom left of that screen shot, does that give you more options?

Good point, actually its also showing the splat on the wireless icon so doesn't that mean it should come up with a browser logon screen when he swipes to continue?

Ah that's not a screenshot of my own PB, it's just a generic screenshot I grabbed on the fly. Sorry about that.

The PB doesn't seem to recognize any of the signals at the several public wifi sites I went through on the way home.

The icon in the lower left corner is for diagnostic info on the PB.

Once again, thanks very much folks.

the pb has a ONE YEAR warranty. 90 days free tech support.

The PB has a one year warranty to the original purchaser. It also has 90 free Tech support. I do not know how Rim deals with "quasi-tech support v. warranty"

I'm having the same issue and I'm having to send it back to blackberry so they can fix it (they say it's a hardware issue). Very annoying because I'll be out of my playbook for 3 to 4 weeks. That coupled with the numerous 45 minute-plus calls I've had to make on the issue really make this annoying situation.
