NO. For some reason, rim has NOT implemented bt transfer to/from the pb. You can use Wifi sharing to copy files wirelessly to/from the pb.

Also, there are some FileManager apps that can access bb phones/pb and transfer files, too. You can also fudge some of this. On a bbphone, there is an "Open On PB" menu item. If it is a picture, you can then do a screenshot (press Vol Up and Down at the same time on pb) and capture the image - it does suffer resolution loss but it can be a quick way to get a picture across.

RIM really needs to have this on BB10 and looking at some leaked images, it looks like this will be available. Android, Symbian and WP7/8 phones allow Bluetooth file transfers. RIM can't expect every Playbook owner to have a Blackberry phone too.

Well, you could also fall back on emailing the file - yes, a bit overkill.

As an alternative, I create PB as ftp server and access it from other device.

I was able to get a wireless keyboard to work with bluetooth, other than that it has been a useless feature. I have never got it to work with either of my Samsung cells or to my son's Nokia. Never tried a BlackBerry cell. This tablet has so much untapped potential

Hit the wrong thing and prematurely posted- sorry. I am a PlayBook advocate but I also know first hand its short comings. If there is ever another update I would like to see issues like this fixed.

BB10 has this feature so if (and I say if) it comes to PB, then we will get Bluetooth transfers too.

You can do file transfers via Bluetooth between PB and a paired phone (unlocked through File Manager) by using Ghost Commander. It is very slow, however.

If you are on Android like the OP, then download ES File Explorer. You can move files off on onto your PlayBook as long as you are within the same WiFi network.

Can a native app be created to transfer files via bluetooth from the playbook to any device? Do devs have access to those APIs?

So if my PlayBook isn't being able to link to my cpu, how can I transfer files, i.e. music?

Are you saying that USB connections don't work? Connect usb and it the drivers are installed you can transfer that way. Or use wifi sharing.

It won't recognize my PlayBook. Says it can't read it. It's become beyond frustrating.

Have you tried UNinstalling the Desktop Software and then REinstalling it? Also, recently someone found just the drivers. Which computer OS do you have? You could also try the new Link Software which can work with the PB.

Then I prefer wifi-sharing - no wire or fragile usb port to injure.

I run Vista on my PC. It worked fine for a while using Link. I have downloaded Desktop Manager but with same results. I tried transferring files via Sharing but that's my fault cause I can't figure out how to do it.

I think there is a developer forum. You could ask there.

But I suggest trying to transfer files another way - wifi, cloud, email, usb transfer? Good luck
