Before I just returned my PlayBook, I noticed the Bridge connected to my Storm 2 was a little laggy. Not horrible, but not snappy. Not a reason for returning the PB, either!
Sometimes I would click on an email and it would not get marked as read, sometimes it would. It took time to load emails. I understand that this may be a Bluetooth speed thing, but I am wondering is the experience is faster with newer devices on newer OS's.

I may be back to the PB once I get a new 'berry and find a true use for a tablet, so I am curious as to the responses.

I would like to know the same thing. Actually it isn't that painful on mine OS5 on a tour, still way better than dialup.

It will be definitely be faster on OS 7 because those new BBs are faster and bridge basically starts a webserver on the BB that the PB accesses thru an encrypted bluetooth connection.

Cant wait for the new BBs

No issues (anymore) with speed on Torch 9800 and PB. Three updates or so again the bridge browser got substantially faster for me. Only lasting "issue" i have is fairly minor - BBM notification stays up despite my lack of new messages.

Since the .2670 update, my Bridge is pretty much perfect with my OS6 Torch. Really fast.

Same here, it was like night and day after that upgrade. Before that I would constantly get a pop up asking me to save the webpage. I have noticed however my bridge is limited to around 600kbps whereas with tethering i get up to 1.5mbps.

IMO the only reason its faster on OS6 & OS7 is the hardware improvements....

It's pretty good now on my Torch with 6.0.0.600 and I love it and use it every day, but actually calling it "very fast" is kind of a lying to yourself...

There are 2 things that could be causing the lag, I beliave that bridge is basically a web server running on the phone accessed from the playbook through bluetooth so the fact that the new phones have much more cpu power and memory would definately improve the speed it serves the data, but I also believe part of the lag is introduced by the bluetooth technology, unfortunately none of the newly announced OS7 phones nor the playbook have BlueTooth 3.0...

But the bluetooth on one of the new phones will be better then the bluetooth on my tour?

yes and no, the Tour has bluetooth 2.0 and the Torch and all new OS7 phones have 2.1

There is no speed difference between 2.0 and 2.1, only minor differences like improved pairing, etc. so it is better but will not improve Bridge...

BTW, I may be wrong, and Bluetooth 2.1 has more than enough bandwidth in which case then definately yes, the bridge speed will be greatly improved with the new phones CPU / Memory... I mean, just look at the videos from the Fan party and look how awsome the browser is when scrolling, etc... not even the Playbook itself with a dualcore cpu feels so smooth...
