Bridge 2.1: Making the PlayBook more then just a tablet.
With text messaging coming available in the upcoming update, I feel that the PlayBook is becoming more then a tablet. On the PlayBook, you can access internet and email through bluetooth, which is high tech in my opinion, along with the ability of BBM, while no other tablets having that option(yes, I know the iPad does the same, but BBM came out before, and was/is far more popular). And going back to the text messaging, no other tablet has that without downloading a third party app. If BlackBerry decides to add Bridge Phone functionality other then being alerted that you have a call, then the PlayBook could be more like a super-sized smartphone. Throw in 4G/LTE capability, and the PlayBook could qualify as a phone.(Although I wouldn't be holding a 7" machine up to my face)

I agree. Even though people are giving up on RIM, only to say they they will return when BB10 arrives, according to the iMore forums. RIM is heading back up, and hopefully will stay there. They are always developing. The only downside is that you can't upgrade the os from, say 6 to 7. But at least they have a rebate program for your old phone.

The playbook is just a year old, and have already had one major os update.
Os2.1 is just around the corner with great new features.
Bb10 update is also supposed to come to the pb as well.
And with all these updates- all the playbook owner has to do is hit the update button.
This is what is exciting about the QNX and new bb10 platform. One device, multiple is upgrades without changing devices. - 05-12-2012, 11:47 PM #6
Only thing missing is to allow the PlayBook to answer calls to the BlackBerry (like touchpad able to answer phone calls through bluetooth). This way, if I have my BlackBerry in my pocket or somewhere else in my house, I don't need to run to get it when I get a call, and can just answer it on my PlayBook. This way, the PlayBook lets me do all the things I need to do while the phone's sitting elsewhere.

Answering the phone on pb using bt. Unless you're phone is out of range can't you just answer the phone using bt?

I agree with all of the above.. I stay with BB/PB for the same reasons, and BB is all about security, which was my top choice when coming to the BB brand.

If you had a bluetooth earpiece i think the call would go through the earpiece - not the playbook. But your are correct that the technology is already existing in the pb. It has the bluetooth and the speakers and mic so this should be possible at some point.
I agree with the comments that one of the advantages (and there are lots) of bb is their updates to their software and not having to buy a new device everytime. I was able to update my phone from OS5 to OS6 and now can wait a bit for BB10.Power corrupts. Knowledge is power.

Printing, Sharing, Simple photo and video Editing, Managing Bookmarks, messaging (Over WIFI) Networking, Codecs, Twitter, Facebook, Skype, Google Software (Apps)
i could really nitpick if you want me too, i dont use my pb for business use only for entertainment and the features that do work are brilliant but lets not got carried away patting RIM on the back just yet, christ the PB is missing a lot of everyday things.
long press a picture on any android tablet Froyo, Gingerbread and ICS and youll be presented with a slew of options from sharing with to editing.
this isnt anything new, im sure you have these options on your blackberry phones, why wasnt simple things like this added from day 1 ?

look at this list of features here half of these features are already present and come as standard on Android tablets.
The playbook with OS2.0/2.1 with the features people are asking for would completely blow current android tablets and iPads out of the water, i think they should add the most practical features and do away with the android player. thats just my preference though
