Look, guys, I'm alright with Blackberry's reasoning behind not releasing the BB10 update for Playbook...it's perfectly valid and these tablets have been on the market for longer than what most other manufacturers support anyways. iPads are a good example...Apple supports up to two generations back or something like that...so based on pure life cycle principles it's perfectly logical.

But the thing was they promised an update would come...to me, that's a whole other story. They fail on their promises and the bad PR from that deserve backlash. Seriously this should not be an option...no lies and no more broken promises...

Really, it's more a case of "Don't say you'll deliver something if you aren't completely sure you have the resources and ability to do so."

BlackBerry is prone to this, and then when they find they can't do something (because BB10 sales aren't going as well as hoped and they're burning through cash), they have to "go back on their word" which looks just plain weak and flaky in the marketplace.

IMO, besides working on whatever next device they have for this year, they really have to start looking at innovating with the "mobile platform" that Thorsten keeps harping on about. Even a quick win that may be small-ish but looks cool. Maybe the BBM push to talk that Chris U. suggested.

Also, they should now be seriously courting a buyer with deep pockets who is willing to support and keep the BlackBerry brand going and throw good promotion at it. BB is too small a company to go it alone now. Maybe Lenovo?
    FF22 and Speedygi like this.

Precisely. To me, these series of announcements from BlackBerry are panic moves, moves they shouldn't have made due to the stock decreasing etc. They are doing okay, cash flow wise, keep grinding in good progress with the updates. Get those updates to sync on all carriers...they have to keep working on these things.

Look at the latest maintenance update for the Z10, marvelous and it was almost a gig worth of update over there. So many improvements to the Android player and the battery life...new news stand app...

They need to stop shooting themselves in the feet...

That can't happen - Chinese company and BB security will not match up very well. Maybe NSA could buy BB!!! Talk about deep pockets (and deep throat)
