I thought I would have to keep BlackBerry desktop installed to support my PlayBook (LTE). The newest release of Link (1.1.1.41) for Windows even allowed me to restore a "desktop" backup to the PlayBook via Link.

May be old news - but it made my day a little easier.

Had no idea that was available. Sometimes dm takes forever to open and an alternative to it sounds good.

Can you have link and DM installed and operating on the same computer? I assume from the above the answer is yes but just picked up a used z10 and don't want to mess up my 9550/PB (w/Bridge).

I have had both Link and DM installed and used both.

Now I am really confused! Thought there would be no more updates for the pb but that sounds like one to me!

Not really, just an update to the desktop software to better recognize the PlayBook. The tablet itself hasn't received any new support thus far.

I think the software is still limited. You canNOT individually backup or restore apps.

Which sucks donkey balls. Hopefully this functionality comes sooner rather than later.

I expect - NEVER. But hope springs eternal (other than bb10 for the pb)

I don't think so. Rim has definitely provided very little sync processing to their new devices and/or pb.

Thanks I was trying to figure out which to install so and trying to look at the website to see if it supports it but I could not see it. I am just going to install Link and hopefully it works.

    Update:
Yeah it works. After moving from My Bold 9900 to a new phone I did not need that Old Desktop Manager. Now I can use the New Link just for my BlackBerry PlayBook. Too bad there is no Update for the PlayBook to take advantage of the Remote File Access. Oh well
I can use the Box App on the PlayBook to see the files I put into Box Folder of my Laptop.
