Blackberry Device Manager does not see my Playbook on my Windows 8 Pro machine. I do not get notified if the USB cable is attached it is installing drivers. On my Mac same cable and Playbook connects and works fine. I have uninstalled the BlackBerry Desktop Software (v7.1) the Playbook has 2.1. The device manager isv6.0.0.68. The device Manager on the about tab says it is using RIM USB Driver 4.2.0.14 and the BBDevMgr is 4.2.0.15. I have uninstall the BlackBerry Desktop Software and reboot the machine ( removed all traces of the software including personal settings and info) then re-installed the software nothing works. Any ideas?

Was on the phone with RIM, for over 2 hours trying to get manager to work on my PC windows 8, and it was a no go, he did tell me that at this time RIM doesn't support windows 8 and it needs an upgrade. Best I've been able to do is transfer over wifi.

Did you try to delete drivers reboot connect PlayBook and reinstall drivers? This method worked for me but it was with windows 7.

Maybe the OS 10 upgrade will solve the problem. It would seem RIMS longevity is dead in the water without Windows 8 support.

I have completely removed the software and uninstalled the drivers (which by the way is the problem the say they can not be configured because the Driver data is corrupt). Removed all RIM and Blackberry folders and registry entries. Ren installed 3 times now on two different machines and it is a no go.

Doesn't Windows 8 have "compatibility mode" like Windows 7 and other versions of Windows has? Have you tried this?
