And here the average joe claims to know a thing or two.. sometimes even all the evidence cannot prove reality and common sense is what you take your decision on.. but I believe that's majorly lacking..
I was super impressed with the camera feature.. very thoughtful.. - 05-02-2012, 10:02 AM #28Looking for the truth, check out intelligentfaith315.com

I hate how the market is based on hype and mostly greed. RIM shows signs of life and was treated to a 4% drop in their value.
I think that what we saw yesterday showed real promise.
From a detached point of view, RIM really only showed 3 things; only one could really be labeled as "innovative".
a smart UI, which the competition has. Deciding which one is better would be akin of us discussing which color is prettier. But at least we now saw a OS combined with a UI that really competes (IMHO).
we saw a smart keyboard, which again; the competition has done. Whether it's actually better than what is available in the market, again is an exercise in personal preference. We can't really tell how good it is until we have a chance to use it.
That being said, that keyboard really kicks a**!!!
two more points and i'm done;
the approach to cameras and pictures is brilliant. it shows that RIM knows how to detect a need and satisfy it. unfortunately, it's easily replicable. I'm concerned that Instagram will have a similar feature in the next 3 months or so.
Lastly, I think we were only shown what RIM had finished to a level of polish that was presentable to the public. Learning from their mistake of releasing a tablet with an OS that still needed more finish, they are now betting on showing only the features that can really compete (UI, keyboard) and new things the competition hasn't thought of yet (camera).
I look forward to more BB Jam sessions where I believe, we will see new features trickling in before the release of the new BB10 OS by Q4.Last edited by Hobbes2099; 05-02-2012 at 10:16 AM.

By whom? You? You have said in several posts that we weren't listening, that the PB was positively dead last October, no more production ever. You were very admamant about it. Also that since THAT was a fact, that we would never see the mythical BB keyboard, asking why would RIM release a product for a dead unsupported device. What are your feelings now? Or do you still stand by that?

BlackBerry 10 and RIM are DOA
This is why I never go to BGR for reading tech news. I mean the founder himself is so immature it's embarrassing for the other bloggers on the site. No wonder RIM declined him of an alpha device. I applaud RIM for doing that. - 05-02-2012, 03:34 PM #33
i personally think that BB10 wont be coming to playbook or at least not our version of playbook anyway.
Why wasnt BB10 loaded on a playbook as well as the BB10 phone ?
im not having a dig i just feel let down that they havent even mentioned the playbook or showed it off with BB10. - 05-02-2012, 03:54 PM #34
Yeah, BB10 looks promising, but all the "innovative" features shown have been around for some time.
The keyboard = SwiftKey
The awesome camera feature = Scalado Rewind (I am still wondering why other manufacturers haven't licensed some of the truly innovative stuff from them)
The window stacks (the UI) = webOS UI elements (although taken to a whole new level).
With this said, all these have been around and are not really RIM creations. But if RIM gets BB10 phones before somebody else licenses some of these "innovations", it will give RIM a good jump start. - 05-02-2012, 04:51 PM #35
This is all too late, the PB wont see this till 2013 by RIM's own admission of pushing it out after the new handset releases.
As a photographer, I feel the time-line camera is a gimmick and will produce mediocre images. It will fail every time in low to adequate lighting conditions, unless of course a strobe light led flash comes as standard... useful perhaps in the rarest of occasions.
The keyboard impresses.
But this isn't now, and I'm not convinced RIM will deliver on time as they have historically proved. Only owning a BB PB now, I'm not holding my breath for another year for the device to be fixed. - 05-02-2012, 05:20 PM #36

do you know what, they can shove bb10 I just want them to add sharing features on the playbook, I want to be able to message people and send files and pictures fast and easy like you can on other tablets, I want to not have to rely on the rubbish slow android emulater.

I'm guessing it will work at the point you initiate the camera app, perhaps nearest subject focusing. Multi Focal points would be something new to BB phones I believe (not 100%).
Just think the uses will be very limited due to lack of light and no flash for general use. - 05-03-2012, 01:16 AM #39------------------------> LIST OF WORKING Android Apps for Z10/BB10 ---190 SO FAR!!! <------------------------

Maybe he means through the Menu like on our BB smartphones. Anyways, if you wanna do something, there is always a way, don't let that stop you from sharing anything..

Its looking good. Haven't got a chance to see a video yet but have they showed it running on the PB yet.
My only worry is that rim runs into a palm and microsoft situation. Where they show off this powerful and great OS. But doesn't iterate fast enough and gets left behind. That and working on the ecosystem to keep people in.
I mean ios 5, jelly bean, and windows 8/windows phone 8 are fast approaching. And while apple and android are still owning the consumer space windows phone is slowing growing and microsoft has shown some really great enterprise features for the next iteration.

I think timing is really important. RIM should release the phone before the new model of the iphone comes out.

I'm looking forward to BB10 but, after reading through this thread, I'm a little puzzled that there are some people arguing that the Playbook has been dumped; that it wont receive BB10; that RIM has discontinued the Playbook; and so forth.
What, specifically from this week's conference has led you to these conclusions? To RIM haters - Why dont you go find a parade and rain on it.
