Whatever your choice, if you will choose an In-the-canal type of device, and find the tips that fit your ear the best (many Shure and Etymotic tips fit other IEMs),I assure you they will not come out easily. As a matter of fact, you should remove these type with a slight gentle side-to-side motion to break the seal, as there will be a vacuum form behind them if you pull too quickly and can harm the tympanic membrane. You can jog, jump, workout, etc... and this type will always be secure.

I have actually taken my own universal tips with me and have had many vendors allow me to try their products with my tips. Also, if you have access to BestBuy, just buy what you want to try, and then return them. Keep this up until you find what you like. BestBuy doesn't carry top end IEMs, but I bet you could find something to work for you.

I personally would stay away from Beats. My daughter has had to return three pair of their earphones and two pair of headphones, all due to cable breaks. They also are not very accurate, clipping the higher frequencies and over emphasizing the bass. But some people like that.

I'm still using my worn out Sennheiser PX100 (awesome bass)
I got a million iPods, so I use the extra earphone when necessary

But my absolute favorite earphones is my Plantronics Voyager Pro+!! A2DP profile to Playbook or Bold 9930, and I get to enjoy music in one ear while still being "connected" to the world with the other ear
Native email account + Push turned OFF + Sync interval set to Manual = "Battery Drain Bug" on Playbook OS2

Beats are bass-heavy earphones rather than providing a neutral/flat "real" sound. I can't recommend them either unless the listener cares nothing about quality, realistic sound. You can get a much better experience than the Beats with a high-quality set of IEMs and just enhance the bass to the desired level.

Unless Best Buy online has changed, they do carry the high-end models from Shure and just about all others. And you can still return them even if you buy them online. Just make sure the seller is actually Best Buy rather than a marketing partner like Buy.com or others.

I made my own nozzle extensions from heatshrink and use a specific tip from my Creative Aurvana IEMs. When Creative was selling the tips separately I bought a few packs of them and use them on all of my IEMs. The extensions allow the tips to go deeper into my ear (I have very deep ear bowls) and fit more securely. Been working wonderful for me for years.

If you are interested in the very simple technique I use to to resolve the deep-ear problem for a much more secure IEM fit, let me know and I'l help you. I believe in helping people rather than trying to make people find their own way, which is what I suffer from a lot of online places.

The technique I use involves easily-purchased heat-shrink tubing, a variety set of drills (drill bits to some), scissors to cut the heat-shrink, common handsoap to coat the drills and a cigarette lighter or heat gun.

Also some common rubbing alcohol and ear swabs to clean up the extensions...cool them off and all.

    Hi,

I use Denon AH-C710 and they sound fantastic...

You can read reviews of all types, but you should set your budget and go try some...Your ears and brain work differently to mine and what I like might not be your brew.

For crystal clear music with a good solid bass the Denon's do it for me....And they are more reasonably priced than some of the others recommended on this thread.

Trust me, you'll be happy with even SkullCandy or one of those so-called lower-end brands. Go to Marshalls or TJ Maxx -- they always have a rack of in-ears near the check out. Just make sure that whatever ones you buy come with at least 2 (if not 3) sets of extra, different-sized ear buds. Sounds like you have large ear canals, so no doubt you should swap whatever bud comes stock on what you buy with the largest pair of extra buds.

I've been happy with the in-ears that came with my last three BBs -- I just use the larger buds that come separately with them. They fit so well that I transferred them to the Bluetooth LG in-ears that I use.

I've got a pair of Sennheiser CX300II earbuds that I picked up in NY state a couple of years ago for $29 - they sell for $90 here in Canada. They sound great on my Nexus S with the free EQ app from Google Play, but they sound tinny, flat and lifeless in the PB, using the same music files (320 kbps Lame encoded mp3's).

Why isn't there an EQ available for the Playbook yet? I've installed the ported Android WinAmp and it's crappy too. This tablet has tons of potential to be a killer multimedia machine, and yet no one has a decent music player or EQ available yet. I wonder if it's worth pestering the developer of the EQ app?

Failing that, does anyone have a workaround - that works?

Not me. My theory on EQ is: Flat is best.

By the way, just for reference...I actually forgot about these...I found early on before I got into audiophile grade equipment that the JVC HA-FX66U sounded really good for such an inexpensive set of ear buds. With a proper seal, I was astounded at the level and quality of bass.

my ear as they say is a musician's ear ..so the ear bud won't stand still in it ..always slip off or i have to press it with my fingers all the time so i can listen to the music level as it should sound

I'm sorry, I was referring to the physical store. My store doesn't care any Shures, more like Sony, low end Senns, Beats, Bose and some Klipchs.

but will it last for a long time ..or i will have to buy another set in 2 months ..and i will have a broken earphones..or messed up wire
