Your friend is full of it the PlayBook is either faster or about the same as any other tablet I've used, and I've used a lot.
But yes, BB10 will be faster than tabletOS.

I am not sure which other devices your friend is comparing with the Playbook. You also have to consider the device configuration and obviously the PRICE. Just for an example, a 3 GHz processor with 2 GB memory will definitely run faster than a 2 GHz processor with 1 GB memory running more or less similar operating system. For the price, the PB is available for right now, it is a great device. And there is the hope of BB10 to make the deal even sweeter. If you are planning to buy a PB, go for it. You wont regret the decision...

The PlayBook at the current price is a no brainer. It's awesome as is but if you think about it, buying a PlayBook allows you to have a nice BlackBerry ten device for dirt cheap.
