Given they have not released the info needed for developers to update their apps to work on the Playbook with BB10, if there is any release soon it would be a developers beta rather than a full blown OS update for the general public.

BlackBerry 10 on PlayBook

BB10's eventual arrival on PlayBooks is nothing new; Research in Motion (when it was still Research in Motion) confirmed as much last March, almost a year ago.
But it was great to hear on Wednesday that plan hadn't changed.
PCMag's Sascha Segan helped break the news on Twitter, and responses from other Twitter users ranged from the predictable "people still have/use those?" to outright beggin ("Please PLEASE! Make the BB Browser Fast!").
BlackBerry provided no time frame for the PlayBook's BB10 upgrade, and spokespeople for the company informed TechRadar that they have nothing more to share at this time.

Should do, it does on other BB10 devices and the PB hardware is certainly capable of it (unfinished drivers for it are present in OS 2.0+ [possible 1.X OS versions too, not sure], and with root it can be enabled)

Ok.. I just now got an update from a reliable source at BlackBerry that they are final stages of negotiation to buy out Apple.. It seems due to this their priorities have changed and are targeting to first get BB10 onto iPhone and iPad. BB10 wont be on PlayBook until the end of 2099... All the best folks....

It am the blackberry event in Toronto today, lots of hands on time with bb10.. Trust me you want it on the playbook. It is night and day to the current op.
