Absolutely. We don't have to test workarounds, we deserve the official release. Yesterday.

Also notice, in the bbm screen shot, that the ping button is on the bottom bar. This was taken out and put on the side menu for the official bbm versin on bbm release. This is just a beta version of bb10 on the PlayBook. The ui hasn't even changed. It's a PlayBook running bbm and the rest is the normal PlayBook ui. What so exciting about this?

Perhaps the fact that it's a PlayBook that supports native Cascades apps?

Also, I clearly stated (in Bold) earlier in this thread that it's a Dev Alpha OS.

I have mention this in another thread, BB10 will happen for the PB. Our contact with RIM stated that there will be a few upgrade push out this quarter preparing the PB for BB10 OS. It wasn't mention in the recent BlackBerry Live but the RIM plan to upgrade the PB was discussed at RIM. We have a few clients who are running BlackBerry Balance on the PB. Future updates will address issues with the bridge and will lead for the PB to have BB 10 OS. Now as for the future of the PB or any new tablets from BlackBerry was never answer directly in our conversation. After the update to BB10, I don't know what plans BlackBerry have for future tablets.

I don't think they should bother with a future tablet.

Means it is probably from the CDMA Z10 if current, if not the last Dev Alpha official build

i dont understand hybrid oses very well but is it possible to combine the z10 ui with the rest of the parts from the dev alpha os that is tested and works? couldnt a custom os potentially be built specifically for the playbook using parts from different oses?

It's easier said than done because you can't install the core OS and many components without the RIM signing of the bar file

Well I won't try any of this "project screw up" I will wait for a official PB 10 release.

It nice to see someone trying it out though so when BlackBerry does release a official 10 OS we can say someone did it before you BlackBerry again.

Its fake. This settings menu in BB10 doesn't look like the settings menu in PBOS. That is clearly from the PBOS.

BB10 on Playbook will not be identical to the phone version. The layouts will be different as there is more screen real estate to work with. That is why there will be no hub or settings menu like the phones.

I really want BB10 on PB, from Developers point of view. There's so less apps and the main reason is native SDK is not good enough. I mean seriously no UI framework means lot of effort on developers part. I am waiting for the cascades to come to PB.

Lack of apps is the main reason PB is not doing well. I don't think 1gig ram poses problem for cascades. It should work fine provided app is written elegantly.

I'm glad that it sounds like they ditched the hub. That should definitely save on memory for the PB. Getting rid of that and the phone entirely, should do quite a bit
