BB10 on PB / older BB phones?
So, will the release of BB10 on the PB make bridging with current BB phones impossible, rendering them obselete and forcing us to upgrade our phones if we want that function?
I think we should be told. - 05-10-2012, 04:09 AM #2
Not really.. Bridge is just an application and it needs to run on 2 platforms to connect them. BB10 and OS7.1 and going to have some level of compatibility. Ofcourse if you are on BB10 Smartphone and the BB10 Playbook, you variety in Bridge functions might increase.
BlackBerry Bridge can also be used to operate you Windows PC.Thanked by:Haseleyman (05-10-2012)

Doesn't bridge work on 7.0 then ?
My friend said she could bridge with her new PB and has only just updated to Rogers 7.1.0.391 - 05-10-2012, 05:17 AM #4

The bridge works between two different operating systems now. BB10 should be an updated version of what we already use. I see no reason that the bridge wouldn't continue to work.

The things people to choose to worry about. Coupled with the worries about wifi-bridge in the next Bridge is so much speculation and nothing more.
But if we are speculating - I would guess that making them incompatible would generate more decisions on whether to totally change platforms more than just moving to the bb10 phones. Will rim risk everyone asking themselves that question? - 05-10-2012, 11:09 AM #8
Nope. When bridged, the pb doesn't take on the OS of the device. It simply links with the calendar, messaging, contacts and browser. So, you can bridge to an older device with older os with no probs.
I'm pretty sure Fonzie would use a BB
