I just bought my 16GB BB Playbook for $289 at Harvey Norman, Australia.

All sizes are on special till the end of the weekend.

16GB $289 (although the internet site advises $294)

32GB $347

64GB $398

Outright price and they're unbranded

Yeah I'm also stoked about the price ..... I've been continually checking all the usual web sites for some time and there hasn't been a lot of downward movement until today.

We need to tell as many Aus as we can.

Dropped into my local HN this afternoon. They are calling it a "run out" sale as RIM are discontinuing the Playbook due to sales numbers.

It's even advertised as that.... very interesting. I wonder what RIM have told them?

I rang an reserved a unit - but the guy said "No need to rush. Since the Sale started we've had one enquiry about them but the guy never showed up. We haven't sold one in weeks".

Hmmm might have to drop into Harvey Norman tommorrow to see, was playing with one today in store at Joyce Mayne. Was not cheap though, $680 for 32gig...

I think the 32 Gig is about $340 at HN. I don't need that space so settled for a 16GB today. I'll go back tomorrow - to a different store - for accessories. They had none at the store I went to today.

A small indication of how much HN and RIM are pushing the Playbook. When I told the sales "duuude" that I wanted the PB he asked me three times if I were sure. He went out back to get the box, and when he saw the price of $294 he said "whoa, that's CHEAP for a tablet!". I said "yeah, it is" and stuck it under my arm and walked out.

I asked one guy if they'd sold out and he laughed and said they'd never had anything in.

Picked up a 16GB one yesterday at the Auburn HN for $254 and I believe the 32GB ones were $312, so I'd get in quick. (if you don't live in the area, might be worth calling them and seeing if they have any in stock and get them to hold one for you rather than driving around)

Lovin' the sale. When looking at the price of tablets I though I was going to have to wait a lot longer to get my PB. Made my weekend!

Hi Kevin, I got my leather pouch and screen saver (on special) at the Caringbah (Sydney) store.

They also had in stock the silicon cases and the convertible case - which I tested but decided on the leather pouch instead.

On reflection I think I should've got the convertible case. Neither the convertible case nor the pouch were on special.

If you look at the Harvey Norman website and search for blackberry playbook, all the items with prices marked in red are on special.

Just bought another 64GB...it was $250+ postage to replace a scratched screen or $398 for a new one... I figured I'd just get a new one.
