    hello everybody,

I have a question.. Some playbook apps such as Simple alarm and Maxthon browser, won't launch after I installed a sys.android.bar file (using the DDPB). When I try opening the Maxthon browser, I get the Blackberry symbol on the screen for a few moments then the app won't launch. I tried uninstalling the sys.android.bar file, but no luck.

Can this be solved? The Playbook version is the 2.1.0.1917
    Thanks.

I find on my phone when i install just an android sys bar file and it doesn't work I need to reload the OS in order for it to work again.
I think you might have to reload the PB OS.

I don't have much information about the bar file, I found it somewhere on google. Only thing I know is that it's a 143 Mb file..

jaydee5799, reinstalling the OS would be the equivalent to security wiping the PB? Is it a simple procedure?

There are two android bars that need to be installed. The one you mentioned, plus sys.android.shell.bar.

I don't know about the OP, but if you wipe your Playbook, you'll be left with a Playbook that basically only has the Browser app installed. You can then install the available update to install all system apps, including the android player, or reject the update and selectively install the system apps that you want/need. If you choose to do the latter, you'll need to install the android player if you want to run android apps. The advantage to doing the latter is you'll free up some memory, save a bit of storage space, and boot times can be quicker (my Playbook boots in under two minutes).
