Okay I'm probably not the only one getting impatient here , so I found this article on how to install bb10 beta for the dev alpha devices on a playbook (How to Run #BB10 on your BlackBerry #PlayBook ← Open Source BlackBerry – OSBB)
Has anyone tried this method to load the official OS on the playbook? Does anyone have the image file for the official version of BB10 off the z10 to try this method?
Let me know, we may have bb10 running on our playbooks before you know it.

Doubt it would be worth it. Nothing would be formatted correctly and all that. But hey if you find a way to try it let us know what you find out.

if someone posts a link to the image file, i'd be willing to test it....i just dont wanna lose my playbook in the process lol.

when you say formatted correctly are you referring to screen resolution or storage?

It would not work from bb10 phone os on the playbook as everything is in such a smaller format screen size and everything else, just not possible to run it 100% effectively.

fair enough it wouldnt work 100% because of the screen res, however on the tutorial above the playbook was loaded with a dev alpha software which from my understanding is/was using the same resolution as the z10, and it seems to go til the edges of the screen, it may be a lower quality but this i can deal with i guess.

I seem to recall someone mentioning they had attempted to install it but it refused to install, had the PB blocked for installation or something like that. (Presumably there's some manifest or whatever within the OS image that dictates which devices it can/cannot be installed on).

I tried it twice yesterday...no dice. Just locks the device, but you can reinstall the PlayBook OS after to salvage the experiment.

i've thought about it but i'm still under warranty,,, don't wanna take the chance of voiding it...

Dammit, lol was looking for a shred of hope, well atleast now we know for sure it doesnt work.
Did you use the method above or some other procedure?

oddly enough this seems to resemble what i thought bb10 for playbook would look like, minus the android buttons at the bottom.
The two widgets look like active frames.
