My one year old 16GB playbook's camera and sound were not working so I thought of doing a security wipe. Unforunately it seems the battery went dead by the time download is completed and I attempted reboot.
When connected to charger the red light used to be on for every 15 seconds and off for 5 seconds. After reading on the net I attempted the power off and power on method to keep the red light on and now I am reaching a red battery with lightning sign. Every thread I read says leave it like that till it charges. But once the red battery symbol comes, the tablet is trying to restart after 15 seconds and in the middle is switching off and the process repeats from red light on for 15 seconds. I suspect it is not charging while restarting and so switching off when the battery power drops.
Is there any way out for this? Is there any way of keeping the tablet just charging and not attempt reboot.

Um you NEVER attempt a wipe or download with the unit not being on the charger. Search the forums for Stack Charging.

You might try pressing the Power button and see if you can turn it off and then charge it. You might also be in the state where the OS is incomplete but it needs at least 20% charge to install it.
