Just downloaded new software for my Playbook 64(GB) tablet(sn1341-8037-2956)
and upgraded to version 2.1.0323. My understanding was the new version
contained the Android player. If it's there I can't find it. Do you still have to
    sideload the apps?

You're running 2.1.0323. Wow. Everyone else has 2.1.0.1032. Just kidding- I assume it's a typo. Anyhow, the android player has been around since 2.0, so it's not new- it's just better and more stable. You won't "find" the android player as such, it will open whenever you launch a converted android app. Converted apps can be sideloaded or downloaded from the app store.

I know a few people that are completely baffled by the Android App Player. A good friend of mine, who is pretty knowledgeable about tech (he roots his Android devices and jailbreaks his iOS devices) had me show him how to run Android apps on the PlayBook and when I went to help him with it. He already had several of the App World Android apps installed. Apps that he used frequently. Lol I'm guessing RIM meant for it to be unnoticeable and they accomplished it.
