I realize QNX is a strong OS system, but wondering what the extra emulation layer does when running Android apps on OS 2.0. I suspect many apps will function okay, but what about ones that require dynamic graphics or other demanding resources?

I don't think that is a concern. PB has strong hardware, and Android support is done through Android Player, not emulator. It's no worse than dedicated Android device running Android apps, if the Android player is done right.

Android apps are byte code apps (basically Java), and Android platforms simply support the Android runtime. This is why vendors are able to build hardware with various CPU architecture (MIPS, x86) and still be able to use existing Android Apps.

It has pros, but lots of cons as well.
