while i'm very pleased to see this update finally roll out, yeah, it's a let-down. not because third parties talked it up, mind you, but because playbook customers have been waiting for native email and PIM apps, and the much vaunted android runtime, since launch day.
like the ones before it, this update is a bit disappointing on that front. and just from the perspective of new features, this update weighs in at 358MB of bupkis. come on, RIM! execute! we know you can do better. the playbook is amazing, but without native email and PIM, you're going to continue to find non-blackberry users turning away.

Actually, something somewhat siginificant on the business front:
Sheets-to-go can now open password protected files. Something I definitely could not do yesterday (had to use my laptop - same file opens in the PB today).Thanked by 2:eldeestephens (07-19-2011), Meloman22b (07-19-2011)

Some of us just need to take a step back and spend time enjoying what we have not whining about what we don't. Life isn't about waiting for the storm to pass, its about learning to dance in the rain...
Did you buy the product, or the promises? If you tend to do the latter in general, prepare yourself to be constantly disappointed.
I know we keep getting promised, this update, that feature, native email, etc...I'm completely bummed out about not having something as basic as A2DP support, but it pushed me to buy a pair of Monster Beats headphones, and they turned out to be the best headphones I've ever owned, so yes there sometimes is a bright side...not truly what we want but like grandma always said (translated from spanish): Nothing bad comes without good reason...God knows what RIM's reasons/excuses are, but we have a good product, could it be better? of course, but rather than the unproductive whining and bashing, why don't we look to using the negative responses to affect positive change?...Support developers who can write apps that bring us what we need. Email?...probably not, lets not forget the Aiflex debacle...but there are other pieces that we want that we know someone out there can provide...
Those of us that bought the playbook spent 500-700 bucks on what?...promises of future functionality?...the word of some corporate execs that aren't in the trenches and don't really understand what is happening but are just reading status update emails from their underlings and regurgitating what they read to the media?...I spent my money on the product I purchased, what was there at the time...good choice? bad choice?...doesn't really matter...if it was a good choice I keep it, bad choice, I return it.
Not gonna bash RIM and point out how incompetent they've been, they're doing a bang up job of that themselves (along with some help from their friends everywhere). But I'm looking at the now and what I have in front of me, and I personally enjoy it and it works for me, as it is, anything else that comes will just enhance my experience.
just my thoughts.Thanked by 4:EveryApp Mobile (07-20-2011), LewLew23 (07-19-2011), phonegeek (07-19-2011), sj-performance (07-19-2011)

For me the currency is in $, ive already purchased a few apps and all are in us dollars. After a security wipe ive selected uk and all the apps where shown in british pounds. Tip. for uk owners after sec. wipe just select us and you will have all the prices in us dollars ( 1.00 USD = 0.620396 GBP)
Here is the proof
Aftab - Payment To DRI App World Completed Details Payment To DRI App World 5XXXXXXXXXXXXX = $1.14 USD

They made us wait a month for this? At the rate the updates are coming and the improvements each update brings, we're not going to see native email and the android app player until the end of 2012 at the earliest
