I'm really interested about this phone and am looking to get it when it comes out. But I've heard a lot of complaints about the trackball on other blackberrys and how their response gets horrible. Do you think that since it's a flip, and the trackball won't be so vulnerable to all of the surfaces it hits, that it'll last much longer?

I don't have a problem with the trackball on my curve.

I absolutely love the trackball. It is one of the many reasons I will never own a different device.

I don't think you have anything to worry about. A lot of teens at the school where I teach have Pearls and rarely have trackball problems. And you should see how they treat them!

I've had ALL the BlackBerrys with Trackballs and not had one fail on me. I've even taken one completely apart and rebuilt it and it still worked!

i am very pleased with the responsiveness on my trackball on my 8310! i have never had any problems.

I love the trackball on every bb i have tried. So much better than the side scroller.
I just went to the T-Mo store and played with the Flip for about 5 minutes. I thought the trackball was great. Its set down a bit so its slightly different than the trackball on the pearl/curve/etc. However, they did a good job smoothing the keys surrounding the trackball, so it feels pretty good on your thumb.
I'm waiting on the storm, but if i was buying a new phone, and didnt previously have a pearl, i would probably give the flip a try. but, since I have a pearl, i don't think I would upgrade to the flip. rather, I would wait for the Bold, or the Storm
