Default So long, flip friends

Made the jump from the 8220 Flip to the 9810 Torch yesterday. I wish BB would have kept the model going, but I had to make the move. The wife called me yesterday with the white screen JVM error, so it was time to dump the Flips. I can't say I like the 9810 - the typing on touchscreen and keyboard make me ill and goes at 1/3 speed - but it is a super fast phone. OS7 has me confused as heck since all the typical setups are in totally different places now. I loathe the easter egg hunts to get the settings correct.

But you can change the touch keyboard to compressed - so the Suretype is not totally gone. So to all you other die-hard Flip fans out there, give the 9810 Torch a test drive and see what you think. Change the keyboard from full to compressed and tell me if you like it.

Device changeover worked like a charm, no issues. But no more one handed typing [sniff]...

JCB

Follow-up: one handed typing with the Torch is possible with the compressed touch screen keyboard, but not nearly as easy as the Flip. Just wanted to make that clear.

I've since moved on from the Flip as well, I just wanted to let know that your Flip is not yet totally useless.

Oh man, I cannot tell you how many times I have recovered those flips from the white screen of death. In fact, I had just done it to the wife's flip less than two wks ago - hence the subsequent final dump of the phones. I am actually quite proficient in reloading BB OS (many thanks to posters like Hubermania et al) and restoring in about 30 min.

More follow-up: I am SHOCKED at the lack of apps available for the 4GTorch. Even the simple ones (Scrabble? really?) are unavailable. RIM, are you listening? Hello?

If you're having trouble finding things you can always use the search function within the menu. For instance, if you're in options just start typing what you are looking for and it will find it for you, such as app or screen or status and so on.
