I finally got my replacement flip and am putting it through it's paces before my 90 days is up. Hopefully it won't be a beast like my last one...

I want to download some ringtones from CB. All the ringtones I've looked at don't list the flip as a compatible device. Does that matter? Maybe they're older ringtones that were uploaded to the site before the flip was around??

Hey geenah...it's me again.

You can use any song or music sample, ringtone, whatever you want as your ringtone, as long as the 8220 supports it. Supported formats are:

MP3, MIDI, AMR-NB, AAC/AAC+/eAAC+, WMA

Pretty much it will support any common music file.....just give it a shot.

For instance...you can plug in your flip to your comp, install a song on it from your mac or pc (your flip will show as a removable device, like a usb flash drive). Find that song on your phone and hit the menu button and select "set as ringtone". That simple!

So feel free to put any old ringtone, or song, or sound byte on your device...find it under media...and hit the BB button and "set as ringtone"

Again, I would advise that you get a micro sd card if your going to start loading up ringtones and such.

A friend of mine has an 8230 Flip so I dont have the oppurtunity to try and answer my own question. Can I set different tones/ringtones for E-mail, SMS/MMS, from the phone? That way he can differentiate between what he is getting.

Yes...absolutely! Just go to profiles (it's the speaker icon on the home screen just under the battery level bar), go to advanced, then click on what ever profile you're using (normal for instance)...it's there you will find a list of all of the programs and the ability to set a custom ringtone/song etc for each individual app...sms, calender, phone etc.

It would be the same on your Storm as well....

There ya have it!

Your awesome, I had thought so, but since I cant get my hands on the Pearl until tomorrow I wanted the answers, especially since the Pearl owner is a LOT frustrated. And yes I have all sorts of neat ones on my Storm, sometimes lose track.
