MMS option is suddenly gone

I have a blackberry flip running v 4.6.0.278 (platform 4.1.0.99)

I have unlimited minutes, sms and mms and never had had a data plan. I can use the internet just fine and have always been able to send/receive all SMS and MMS messages. Last week my SIM card started to fail so the screen showed sim card rejected or something like that, I took my phone in to the T-Mobile store and they switched out my sim card.... not sure if this is related to that but now when I take a picture, it no longer gives me the option to send as MMS... now it only says Send as email and Send to Facebook (I have that app installed) ... last night my friend was sending me MMS messages and they never came through either.... I've tried doing a hard pull on the battery (w/the phone on) and I just got off the phone with tech support, who basically sounded like a 16 yr old who had no idea what was going on... has anyone else experienced this? I searched older threads but didn't find the exact problem posted. I'm thinking I might upgrade the OS and see if that works but I dont understand how it has been working for years and then one day the option just suddenly dissapears.
