    Default Instant Messenger programs

Anyone able to get any instant messenger programs to work on their phone? I tried to use AIM which came with it, but it says i dont have permission. I tried downloading Beejive, it doesnt work. I tried DOWNLOADING AIM from blackberry, and it says my handset doesnt meet the requirements. I tried running Ramble IM too, they all give me the same error.

    Tunnel Failed.

Im running it unlocked on ATT if that is the problem, let me know please!

AIM and ICQ both work for me, over either EDGE or WiFi on my T-Mobile 8220.

I didn't have to download either; they were both preinstalled.

Sounds like the 'unlocked' IS the problem. I forget AT&T's setup (provisioning for internet) but all the IM programs AND Beejive work fine for me on T-Mobile

I got it working now. It ended up being that the TPC setting was still set to tmobile, and not to att/cingular.

I did some research on the forums but never saw an official answer. I just bought my 8220 (first BB) and am about a month or two out from adding a data plan (due to the old budget).

My IM programs say that Service not enabled for this handheld.

Is that due to the lack of data service or another advanced option I have not re-configured? I have WiFi at home with the same result. Any advice / facts would be helpful! Thanks!!

My boyfriend knows how to get around a Blackberry pretty well and he can't figure it out either so if anyone has any ideas or hints to try would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance!!!

Try resending the service books from your provider's website. I get that message every time I upgrade the OS.

K well apparently my boyfriend had already tried resending the service books from our provider's website and didn't help, but thanks for the suggestion - open to all and any. Tried downloading IM from default browser and at least get a different error message now :0) Now says "Data services unavailable." I just don't get it. Everything else works. Any more suggestions?? Anybody??? TIA
