Default How slow is it really?

How slow is the blackberry pearl flip 8220, really?

I'm thinking of getting one soon off of amazon.com, and all I really want a phone for is making calls and texting every now and then. I'm not even on my phone all that much, the reason I'm thinking of getting it is because I've never owned a blackberry before, and it looks pretty.

Is it really that slow? Are simple tasks like calling and texting slow, or is it just internet browsing and applications, etc?

Would you recommend I get a blackberry that is limited to OS 4.6 in today's world, or do you recommend another phone? I'm not looking to spend a lot, I'm going to get the pearl flip for around 150$.

Thanks in advance! =]

If all you are doing is texting and calling, the OS version won't matter. Speed isn't likely to be an issue either. Texting will be limited by how fast you can type, not anything in the phone.

Smile Pretty responsive

It's actually pretty responsive when it's not loaded to capacity with apps (i.e. 40+MB of free memory & a mSD card).

Thumbs up Still rockin' the 8220

There are two 8220's in the Hubermania household, and we're happy with them. Like you, we like the appearance of the Flip. Mrs. H and I use the phone to its fullest, though: SMS, BBM, email, calendar, facebook, photos, MP3s, MP4s, even Garmin Mobile with a keychain Bluetooth GPS. With OS 4.6.0.308 on it the 8220 is plenty fast and has decent battery life.

IMO the only thing that is really slow on the Flip is the built-in web browser, particularly the HotSpot browser. For all but online banking, we use Bolt Browser . Bolt eliminates the only reason that I would upgrade to a new BB that has OS6, namely the availability of a fast WebKit-based browser for full-page browsing.
