| | How to load os with bb not recognized by dt manager?
here's my original post:
forums.crackberry.com/f85/bberry-flip-boots-itself-557480/
sorry, i had to remove half link as site thinks i am posting a 1. picture; 2. i have no right to post links - daah, even to threads in THIS FORUM. how wise.....
i gave bb new battery and 356 mb card, and it worked ok till today.
today, we got dreaded JV 102 error code on the screen. i managed to find instructions on how to fix it, which involved using 3rd party applet to wipe out bb's os. that worked. now, we are down to "507 reload software".
problem is, desktop manager DOES NOT connect to bb. no matter what i did, upgraded DTM, have latest sw for bb downloaded, it does not matter - bb is not recognized by DTM.
official bb support thread on this is - what an irony - "currently unavailable"; as of now, we moved sim to wife's old motorola as a backup solution.
i am open to working solution. i have absolutely latest DTM installed, we have good connection, as when i disconnect and reconnect bb via usb, it does show new hw found, even recognizes it as bb, DTM refuses to do anything with it. DTM recognizes my bb just fine.
thank you in advance.

Welcome to CrackBerry.
Sorry to hear your BlackBerry is bricked.
I would suggest that you try the steps given here to reload the OS.

Download an OS to your PC. There should be a link to one at the top of this forum for you if you don't have a preference. Run the .exe file you downloaded.
Go to c:/program files/common files/research in motion/apploader (it may vary slightly depending on your windows version). Delete the file "vendor.xml". In that same folder, run loader.exe.
Plug in the USB cable to the computer and see if apploader recognizes your device. If so follow the prompts to install the OS.

thank you both.
apploader is loading s/w as i type. was quite easy. will also take care of that vendor file for sure. this phone has been a nightmare through 2 yrs we had it. already replaced once.
most gratefull. hey, lak611, appreciate your concern, that was nice of you.
also, we have a problem again; appl loader is not able to connect to device at reconnecting to jvm phase.

Ok, let's try the basics. The USB port on the computer isn't set to power save or sleep after a certain time of inactivity is it?
Try rebooting the device and see what happens/whether it connects then.

no. though it was a message that popped up during load. it, actually, told me specifically to set up usb ports to power sharing and even provided step by step instructions how to do that. as i do not know which "unknown usb" port apploader was using, i set all usb ports to power sharing.
as of the last attempt yesterday, apploader will not even connect to bb. bb shows reload os 561 message on the screen now. also, it will not charge from the wall charger, so i am not sure at what stage of dying battery is.
we are out of contract in a week and that phone goes bye-bye anyway. but, at least, i am trying to get it to the point where i can have it half way working, bring back to t-mobile, and swap again for a functional one. i do not believe they will take it back with 561 error message.

ok, i just tried it again. off different usb port.
1. apploader will connect to bb
2. with several attempts, i can get past obstacled and to applications load step
3. it will show connection to pc on bb's screen
4. the very moment it gets past 1st application load, it goes into screen that tells me to change power management on root hub
5. i have done all that, it will not go past this step, period; i can retry several times, then it simply exits loading screen and says "unknown error".
at this point, i am so tired messing with this brick, that i appreciate your help, but wife has phone to use, we will go to t-mobile and do our best to have this exchanged for a different one.
with all respect to forum and apparent bb fans, this was the last time we bought bbs. wife's one was 2 yrs of s/w glitches; mine is a nuclear reactor, highest radiation level amongst all cell phones.
once again, thank you for you help and happy coming holidays.

Using the apploader, it may take several attempts. Take the battery out!!!!!!! Connect to pc. Wait till pc reads the pin, and hit next immediately!!!!!!!!!! This may take several attempts. It is about the timing in my experience or some strange voodoo ocd that works for me. After that it will come to a screen that will give you a list of os that are on your pc choose1 !After choosing one and hitting next, make sure to reinstall your battery. If you can still not get this to work after several attempts, D/L BBSAK wipe device and repeat instructions above. Hope this helps. If not, pm me and ill try to assist

Are you connecting it directly to the computer or are you using a USB hub? Connect it directly to the computer if you've not tried that...
