Default How can I *force* an *OS* Load?

I am having extreme difficulty loading a new OS on my 8220.
I've seen several links that direct you to run the OS after it has been downloaded to C:\Program Files\Common Files\Research In Motion\AppLoader.

Everybody who posts about loading the OS says it's as simple as running "Loader.exe" and it will magically work.

    Well, it doesn't.

When I run Loader.exe, the list of applications I get as options to install are just *applications*...nothing to do with the OS. So, I simply am not seeing the option where I can *force* an OS load. Either an upgrade or a downgrade.

My external screen is not working (which seems to be a common problem), but now I am stuck with no apparent way to try and force an OS re-load.

Is there any way to completely wipe the OS out on my phone so that I can trick the Desktop Manager into thinking I need an OS?

    It's a bit maddening.

When I'm in Desktop Manager (v4.6), it's the same story: when I click on "Application Loader" *or* "Update Applications", it simply reports "No software update is required for your device". When I click "Advanced", it just lists simple applications...no OS modules or anything OS in nature.

Thanks in advance for any help on how to *force* an *OS* upgrade (not application loading).

    Thank you!

It sounds like you don't have your device OS installed on your PC. It's not sufficient to download it, you have to install it. Double-click the exe you downloaded. That will install it. Then the DM App Loader will be able to find the files.

sounds like you forgot to delete vendor.xml from the apploader directory first. also, if it's an older version than what you have on the phone you have to start loader with the /nojvm switch. this will wipe out anything you have on the blackberry and install whatever version you have installed on the host PC.
