Getting hourglass every couple minutes on screen...any ideas why?
I have had my blackberry pearl flip since July and have had no problems with my phone until the last month.I am now getting the hourglass with the white screen every couple minutes.I have read that it could be a problem with the memory card, so I pulled it out for now because I am new to BB and am not sure if I format the card what it will delete. Can anyone give me any advice on what to do with this problem.I just got a replacement because the bluetooth quit working on my other one and the hourglass thing had just started around the same time.I got the new phone yesterday, the bluetooth works and am still getting the hourglass screen every couple minutes.Any advice would be greatly appreciated

Hey Keno welcome to the forums, hopefully someone here can give you something that solves your issues.
Have you tried holding down the "alt" key and pressing L G L G, then press your menu button scroll to "Clear Log" then "Delete"? You may also wanna try going into your browser go into "Options" > Cache and clearing all of the fields. Literally pulling the battery out of the device for 10 to 15 min is something you may wanna try as well. I've gone though this a few times myself, you can also expect to be told to uninstall/reinstall the os if it doesn't fix the problem.

Sounds like you said you just got a replacement Flip....if the only thing that's the same is your Bluetooth device...maybe that's the issue?
Like Blade mentioned...do a battery pull first. Sounds like ya might just have some memory issues or some apps running in the background.
Also as Blade mentioned...if you haven't already...you most definitely should update to the latest OS .305 stickied at the top of this forum. Keep in mind you're on T-Mo, so you will have to delete a fave 5 cod file for it to work as well...that is a must. You'll find all the directions you need in posts here on Crackberry. Just search if need be....it's very simple once ya do it a few times....

What would happen if I did alt l g l g and cleared the field? Will that free up memory and will I have to relog in to all the websites and stuff like that? What does this do for the bb?

You will have to log back in to websites if you clear your browser cache. As to your earlier question about reformating the sd card. All data will be erased from the card when it is reformated. You can make a backup of the data using your pc. Create a file and drag and drop the data into the folder on the pc and then reformat using the pc.

My flip has always had that problem. I updated to .305 which helped it a lot but I still get the hourglass often. I have an 8 gig memory card in mine which is probably a big part of the problem. I am also pretty interested in what people have to say about your question

Hey There,
I would try and get the application MemoryUp Personal. It is free and it did wonders for my Mom's FlipDevice History ->BB 7290 ->BB 8900-> BB Bold 9700

Little trick, do you have a lot of unfiled pics on your media card? If you do, create folders and file them, this reduces the number of items for the system to look through,m and generally speeds things up quite a bit.

i just had mine replaced 3 times due to this problem
i'm done with my flip.
You can fix it with the blackberry desktop, wipe your phone and install the latest firmware.
BUT this still only works for about 2 months then it will slowly start to act up again.
Between that and my application error 523 i'm done with the flip.
I'm not trying to find out what i want for a new phone
