easy? question about wiping device
Ok, here's the deal, I JUST got a new pearl flip 8230, love it, however I deleted all sample content, I didn't realize that it would delete all ringtones and folder icons options, I found a zip file and restored the ringtones, but really miss folder options, so my question is this, if I just simply back up my info and 3rd party apps via desktop manager, wipe handheld through security settings, and then restore via desktop manager will my folder icons come back? Is it really that easy? Any risk? I guess its the word "wipe" sounds so serious, lol, any advice is appreciated!

Have you tried downloading the os software off of the blackberry site for your phone and loading it to see if it give you the option to add just those deleted applications to your phone? Wiping your handheld does not restore deleted apps so don't waste your time.

A better way to get the applications back without wiping is through Desktop Manager. Following is for DM 4.6. Hook up by USB, go to Application Loader, click the Start button under "Update Applications", click Advanced on the Application Loader screen. Then go down through the list and put a checkmark on the stuff you want loaded back onto your phone. Especially the "BlackBerry Sample Content" nested inside BlackBerry 4.6 Core Applications.
'Fraid I can't help you with the folder icons. I've never been able to change the icon on a new folder that I create. - 11-07-2009, 09:54 AM
