Can I use an Alltel Flip on Verizon?
Hello All -
Total noob here -
I am on Verizon for my work phone and considering the Pearl Flip - but I much prefer the black model available on Alltel to the silver one to be released on VZ.
Can I use the Alltel Flip on the VZ network and how would I do that? Once the ROM is released for the VZ Flip could I flash the Alltel Flip with the VZ ROM?
Coming from a Windows Mobile device the ROMs were easy to flash - just wondering if it is the same on the BB.

Yes you can use the Alltel on Verizon, ONLY if they let you.
As far as the Flash... Coming from a past of window's mobile myself, BlackBerry's are not the same. You cannot remove the Alltel and put Verizon. (You can, but it could brick the phone)
Blackberry"s do not Flash over like Windows do, they all use the same OS, just different form for each device.

Actually, no, you can not. At least not yet.
We have not fully assimilated Alltel yet. We are not accepting Alltel equipment on Verizon Wireless accounts at this time. That will in all likelyhood change soon though. - 06-17-2009, 10:35 AM

Thanks for the replies - I guess I can go with the Silver on VZ.
msblueline - how was your switch from Window's Mobile - especially to the Pearl Flip? I love the form factor of the Flip but the only hesitation I have is...of course...the ease of typing emails on the SureType.

As far as losing the "Windows Mobile" there is no comparison... I love BlackBerry so much better than Windows.
IMHO, Suretype is awsome!!!
I can type so much faster with suretype on the Flip, especially when the keys are so much bigger.
The keys on the 8230 Flip allow more finger space than the smaller buttons on the full "QWERTY" keyboard, or even on the Pearl 81xx.
I have made a vow to myself that I will not go back to a Windows device.
I cannot do the things on Windows Mobile that I can do on a BlackBerry.
I have had multiple Windows devices and multiple BlackBerry's... The BlackBerry wins.
