Default anyway to change internal antenna?

Hi all,

I'm new in the BB universe. title says it all, my BB 8220 has very poor signal, it comes from a friend who used to have very good signal. If I find a replacement antenna, is it possible to do the job myself?

Thanks

I would not advise that. Whose your provider? VZW? AT+T? I have VZW and if I call *228 and pick option 2 it updates my roaming, which normally boosts my bars about 1 cell or so. It searches for any new towers put up, or boosts or anything...

Other than that I would talk to your service provider, they might be able to replace your phone if theres no physical damage...

I'm affraid that's not an option. I'm with a MVNO of rogers and they don't sell BB. I just swapped my sim in a rogers 8220. I got it used by a friend who "broke" it. The phone used to work well and he damaged it or something. Not sure what happened exactly but he told me it was his fault. Anyway, got that phone for free, no risk by opening it!

And for the PRL thing, from what i know it only applies to CDMA. I'm GSM

well i'm not sure about replacing the antenna, might be able to google it to be honest. Sounds like a tough cookie to tackle..

You can always try out the "As Seen On TV" AMAZING antenna booster... If you do, let me know how "AWESOME" it is.

Just google it is my best advice. My expertise is limited in hardware work..

If you own an 8100-series BlackBerry Pearl you may notice that there isn't an external antenna. There is an antenna but it is located inside the unit. There's no need to panic because this can be completed in a matter of minutes.
